I was working in the lab, late one night...
Here's a view of my 'lab', also known as 'a pile of crap on a bench'.
LabCam!
The lab webcam images are produced by a webcam connected to this laptop. For convenience,
the webcam is taped to an adjustable lamp. In this photo, it's pointing at the laptop
screen, showing the output from WinScope, a freeware PC oscillsope program which uses
the sound card's digital inputs.
The orange wires power the IR emitter that can be seen up and left from the webcam.
The webcam has a good lens mount, and the removable lenses can be focussed manually - very
good for close-ups. The current lens is a wide angle one with an IR filter fitted (the sensor
is very IR sensitive). The small round object down and left from the webcam is another wide
angle lens (with cap fitted) which has no IR filter. The IR emitter (unknown type) can illuminate
the bench from a distance of 20-30cm.
